Mat Pilates Classes in San Diego
Mat Pilates builds strength from your center out. Using a mat, light weights, and resistance bands, you’ll work through controlled movements that train the deep core muscles most workouts skip, along with the breathing that makes them work.
Classes run 45 to 50 minutes on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and all levels are welcome — included with every membership and with your free 3-day guest pass.

The class
Quieter Than Our Other Classes, Harder Than It Looks
Nothing says core strengthening quite like Mat Pilates. Using yoga mats, light weights, resistance bands, or a combination of all three, you’ll perform exercises that work your full range of core muscles, learn to move from your center, and practice the breathing techniques that make each movement count.
You’ll move slowly and deliberately, holding positions and controlling each repetition rather than chasing reps. There’s no impact, no jumping, and no equipment to learn. Everything happens on a mat at your own station, and the instructor cues the breathing pattern for each movement — the part most people find surprising their first time.
The work shows up later: in your posture, in your lower back, and in how steady you feel under a barbell or on a bike.

Good to know
Is Mat Pilates Right for You?
All levels welcome
No experience needed. Every exercise has an easier and a harder version, and the instructor shows both. It’s the most approachable class on our schedule.
Pairs well with everything
A strong, controlled core carries over to lifting, HIIT, cycling, and running. Many members use Pilates as their between-days session.
If you sit all day
Desk work leaves most people tight through the hips and weak through the mid-section. Pilates targets exactly that, without impact.
One membership, one visit
A Studio Class Inside a Full Gym
A boutique Pilates studio gives you the class and nothing else. At TruSelf you get the class plus the full gym floor, every other group class, Peloton bikes, and a recovery space most gyms don’t offer: cold plunge, infrared sauna, red light therapy, and the Hyperice Recovery Room.
