Red Light Therapy in San Diego: Where to Find It and What It Costs
Short answer: in San Diego you will generally find red light therapy in three places — recovery studios, wellness or med spas, and a small number of gyms. Studios and spas typically sell it per session or in packages. Gyms that offer it usually include it with membership, which changes the math if you use it more than once or twice a month.
Red light therapy has spread across San Diego quickly, and the pricing varies more than almost any other recovery service. Here is how to think about where to find it, what you should expect to pay, and which format fits how often you would actually use it.
Where to find red light therapy in San Diego
Recovery studios
Dedicated recovery studios usually offer red light alongside compression, cold plunge, and percussion tools. They are purpose-built and the equipment is often excellent. The tradeoff is that you are paying for recovery as a standalone service, typically per session or through a package, and it is a separate trip from wherever you train.
Wellness centers and med spas
Many spas offer red light or LED treatments, frequently framed around skin rather than training recovery. Sessions tend to be priced like spa services, and booking is usually appointment-based with less flexibility for dropping in after a workout.
Gyms
A small but growing number of gyms have added red light panels to the floor. When it is part of a membership rather than a per-session charge, the cost per use drops sharply the more you go, and there is no second trip involved.

What does red light therapy cost?
Pricing shifts constantly, so treat these as ranges to check rather than quotes. Across San Diego you will generally see:
| Where | Typical pricing model | What to watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Recovery studio | Per session, or a package of sessions | Packages often expire; ask about the window |
| Med spa or wellness center | Per treatment, sometimes bundled with other services | Sessions may be shorter than at a gym or studio |
| Gym with red light included | Part of a monthly membership | Confirm whether it is unlimited or a set number of sessions |
| Home panel | One-time purchase | Panel size and output vary widely between products |
The question that actually matters: how often will you use it? At one session a month, paying per visit is usually cheaper. At once a week or more, anything included with a membership you already have tends to win, because the marginal cost is zero.
What to ask before you book anywhere
- How long is a session? Session length varies a lot between providers.
- Is eye protection provided? You should be wearing it, and you should not be staring into the panel.
- Do I need an appointment, or can I drop in? This decides whether it fits a real schedule.
- Is it included or extra? At gyms especially, ask whether it is unlimited, capped, or an add-on.
- What else is on site? If you want to pair it with sauna, plunge, or compression, one location saves you a second membership.

A note on claims
You will see a lot of confident promises about what red light therapy does. Research is ongoing, results vary between individuals, and we are a gym rather than a medical provider. We offer it as a wellness amenity, not a treatment. Nothing here is intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition. Talk with a qualified healthcare professional before starting if you have a medical condition, are pregnant or may be pregnant, take medications that increase light sensitivity, or are unsure whether it is right for you.
